Has anyone had (what I assume is) an international stopover in OOL when flying JQ?

I'm on JQ12 NRT-OOL then JQ20 OOL-SYD with about 2 hrs on the ground in OOL. (booked by company - not flights I would choose if I had any say in the matter...)

- Do we clear arrival into Aus customs in OOL? I assume not as we're arriving at T1 in SYD so will probably just do it there.
- Is the OOL QF lounge airside and can it be accessed by transit pax? Again, I'm guessing not as we'll probably be kept in an int'l transit lounge.
- If we do clear customs in OOL, do JQ make us collect bags and re-check for the second flight?

Finally, anyone been stuck in OOL int'l transit lounge for a couple of hours - is there anything there?

After a dreaded overnight JQ flight NRT-OOL in Y, I'm further dreading 2 hrs wasting my early morning in a transit lounge area.:(

The OOL QP is airside, but airside for domestic, then there's an additional security/immigration point for international departures, and I doubt you'd clear immigration just to go back through it with a "D sticker". But haven't flown the route so don't know sorry. I think you're going to be in a transit lounge.

I did something similar at the start of 2009 (Sydney to Osaka) and at the time there was no lounge access and nothing to do in the transit lounge. In fact, it was probably better described as a transit room.

This may have been renovated/expanded since I was there last but I doubt it will be the most exciting transit you every do.

About 2009 also (*Class), if I recall the return sector correctly, we were herded somewhere that may have had a fairly mediocre takeaway type food shop, and there we waited. We still had to pass through customs on re-boarding (they took my high tech keyboard cleaner of me).
