Alright - in light of the reports from the weekend... I've decided to give this JQ BP in advance theory (which never used to work).

So I'm going to take JQ30 MEL-SYD 12pm departure on 2nd Sep.

SWMBO (QPNB) is on QF93 departing at 9:35am.

So... I'll do this online partial check-in routine, rock up to MEL T1 JQ check-in at 6:30am and try and get my BP, then trot off to the QF F check-in and ask for a D sticker..??..??

Reckon it'll work????

I believe nlagelle was able to do that, but check with him on the exact process. He was given a docket-style boarding pass which raised some eyebrows I think, but otherwise worked. At the gate he was give a regular boarding pass.

You may have to convince the JQ staff that it is possible to do this, as some of them believe that it is not possible. If they stamp their foot on the ground and say it won't work, simply ask them to re-print the boarding pass.

They might have D stickers on hand, however if they don't, you'll be able to get them from the F Lounge counter.

Enjoy your extra time in the F Lounge!!

I think JQ will send you to the INT departures area. you could always try though.. The thing I have seen is there is no consistency to how it works and doesn't.

Thanks guys - it's probably worth a try... otherwise SWMBO gets to go airside and wait in the J lounge, whilst I'm stuck landside (and then I get to enjoy the F lounge after she departs ;))

Last time I tried this was with everyone else at the wake - and back then you couldn't even attempt to online check-in for the flight.

Is the goal here to be able to proceed through immigration earlier than usual due to Jetstar not allowing check-ins until 3 hours prior to departure?

Yep!!

SWMBO has a 9:35 departure and I have a 12:00 departure.

Obviously we would like to enjoy the lounge together, and naturally will be arriving at the airport together.

Issue you have is that your guest must be traveling with you. As you are on different flights they probably won't let her in with you.

That's ok - if they say no - we're more than happy to enjoy the J lounge together.

Naturally we would ask politely - but I'm not trying to deliberately take advantage of the system, just otherwise seems silly that we'll both be at the airport, but I'll be locked out for 3 hours.

PS. Of course - it would be rude of me not to venture off to the F lounge after her departure ;)
