JT is quietly going

Finally! I liked the safety video that was in circulation prior to the JT one but I wouldn't mind if they made a new one similar to the emirates inflight safety video.

I didn't mind the safety video, and it's been around for nearly 12 months too.

Personally I think it should be changed every 12 to 18 months as it keeps people from switching off.

I hated the word "team" as opposed to "crew".

+1 on ALL your points. Maybe jb747 could be the new star ?

I think it is a bit of a shame - it was ok and not too cheesy. I just hope to god that they don't go the cartoony route of BA...

It's a terrible video. It's seems like some kind of attempt to be like VS.

Popularity aside, there is an underlying issue.

Qantas says that the safety video has done its job, and they will be rolling out a new one soon.

The pilots say that this line from JT - "There's no one I'd rather have at the controls than a Qantas pilot" - is somewhat controversial now that Qantas wants to outsource this key position.

I believe the 3 key factors that allow Qantas to charge a premium for its services are (in no particular order) :-
  1. Well maintained aircraft
  2. Well trained and experienced crew
  3. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie (Oi, Oi, Oi)
The more they devalue each point of difference, the more people will go for whoever offers the best value. I think Qantas would be wise to take things slowly and carefully, and if they are considering a new safety video then they should hire the mob that do the Air NZ ones.

Saw the new one on the weekend and the Doppelgänger allocated 2F still is not given enough time to sit down.

7, wasn't it?

Team Team.

"We know you're more than capable of getting sick of being spoken down to on how to operate a seatbelt..." ;)

I think we counted 7 that morning!!

Ok I saw the new one tonight. All the have done is subbed off JT with a QF Captain.

The rest of the demo is the same.

To me it is badly edited, different music between the captain speaking and the demo, so it doesn't flow nicely. And they should have gotten rid of 'team'!! Although the captain says crew.

Considering Qantas' latest ad with the two birds, I was expecting it to be pretty poor. Hoping for something that brings back a bit of Qantas spirit.

Sounds to me like they've just quickly taken out the part at the front, instead of making a whole new one.

I've got a Qantas flight towards the end of the week, look forward to seeing what they've done.

Disliked JT and the term 'team'.

The only reason JT has been evicted is the 'Qantas Pilot' line.

A good change however.

I thought that it was unbelievably cheesy - totally cringeworthy, in fact. I'll be glad to see the back of it. The only redeeming feature was that JT could at least pronounce "QanTas" instead of the usual "Qannas" by most Australians. And let's hope the 'team, team' nonsense goes the same way. Phoney HR-style babble.

I got mildly excited in Cairns yesterday when a 707 arrived in the afternoon - was it JT's full scale model?

Alas, it seemed to be a charter under "Omega" callsign and noisily departed this morning to Hawaii.

First time I've seen the noise/terrain abatement turn from Rwy15 began at about 50'!!

I didn't particularly like or dislike the JT video - just pretty much run-of-the-mill deliver the information stuff IMHO. It would take a breathtakingly good or excruciatingly bad video to stir me up at all.
