Assume you are trying to get QF Biz seats on Transpac flights? Yep.... pretty difficult IME too... I suppose you've run in to the usual problem...LOTS of apparent availability...but the QF long haul are all actually in Y? Frustrating covers it nicely!

Hi trooper, actually I'm trying to get from MAD back to SYD around 7 Oct 2019. The aa website shows lots of availability eg Qatar but when I select them, it comes back with "flights no longer available". So I've been calling aa every day for the last week but nothing available in J from any European city to any Aus city! Except one mad-nrt-syd, but for some unexplained reason aa considers this 2 award flights so want 115k points instead of 85k.

Welcome to AFF @James Gatenby

Redeeming via AA can certainly be 'fun' (intentional sarcasm). Things were better 18-24 months ago before AA substantially increased the amount of points for awards on most routes. But stick with it!
