Sad, as I mentioned on the QFF too, it was a good way to save paying the debit/credit card fee when booking flights.
Of course, now the airlines win, I pay with my visa debit, so save a few %.

Haven't checked to see, but does Coles still sell Virgin Australia gift cards?

If so, thats a good way to gain VFF 2 ways.
Will pop into Coles tomorrow and have a look.

Virgin Australia does not have gift vouchers available for purchase. Please explore other payment options below. Accepted payment options. Enjoy flexibility .

Ah, didn't realise BOQ's Virgin Money (Aust) now has a visa debit option, that earns Virgin Money points that is transferrable to Velocity.
Virgin Money (Aust) didn't have a Visa debit option in the past.
One door closes, another one opens.
Of course, the credit/debit card fee is still chargeable with the Virgin Money debit card, to buy VAd fares, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Heh, thanks Oz_mark, for getting me off my lazy dog bum to go searching.

So, just rang Virgin Money owned by BOQ.
The debit card side rewards, called Virgin Money rewards, cannot be tranferred to VFF.
Thought it could, and was like VGW.
But not so.
Just in case anyone else was thinking of doing what I had planned to do, ie, open a Virgin Money debit account, and earn VFF, but that can't be done.

It's good riddance they got rid of POLi completely and utterly. I tried it once way back then realised exactly what it was doing and never touched it again as well as warned everyone else against it. I wasn't going to let software hijack a browser session to automatically input numbers to do a bank transfer and giving it full access to your internet banking by inputting your banking details through them.

I started using poli again recently when I found out it now has the option for PayID - that is providing you with an email address to transfer the funds into yourself.
What a good option, would be great for the airlines to offer that because poli removal will not leave any free payment options.

I thought business legally have to offer a fee free payment method that is accessible

I used that function over the weekend, the implementation was slick. The name that pops up in your banking app for the PayID includes your booking reference and the amount owed and the payment flow on the Virgin Australia booking website confirmed receipt of payment and advanced through the order flow within a second of my transferring the money.

Didn't test any non standard conditions (overpayment / underpayment etc) to see what would happen though.

I was booking a Qantas flight recently and it looks like they've added support for PayID too. Hopefully every business that used POLi replaces it with this.

I didn't try it so I'm not sure how it works, but I assume there's a vendor providing this service to both QF and VA? Anyone know who they are?

Good to see QF has payid, had a look at the VA side, but no payid data/details, so they (VA) probably won't use it.
Prebuying a VA $50 gift card if you plan a flight, and pay with with that, and then part with debit card would probably now be the cheapest way to pay for a VAd/VAi flight these days.
I haven't had an indepth look at payid, and a code to be sent to a person's mobile for payment.
Like 2fa.

Not sure, but it was mentioned on here by one of our colleagues.
But as a link I put in above somewhere, VA said they don't sell gift cards/vouchers themselves, ...
Haven't had the time to chase up and see if Coles "still" has them.
But if you have a trip in mind, something simple, the idea is sound, but just need to do prebuying of the gift card/voucher.
I have a bit of time to check out Coles tomorrow.
===
Ooo, our friends at Ozbargains have also said it no longer available at Coles.

Tho, since VGW died, the QTMC is my only points earning card now... and I keep them (as in the base companies) separate.
Ie only use the QTMC at Woolworths/EG/Ampol Foodary, and the non points earning bank visa debit at Coles/Bunnings/Officeworks with FB tap as well.
Yair, looks like paypal might be the way to go now to avoid card fee with VA.
Ta for that tip Lynda2475.
