As mentioned previously, I had an issue with seat selection for PER-LAX return flights in J for Nov/Dec- I could select seats for the international sectors at the time of booking (back in March) but received the "online seat selection is not available, seats will be allocated on check-in" message for the domestic sectors. When seat selection came back on line a couple of months ago, same thing - could select/change seats for the international sectors but not the domestic ones.

Received an email this morning advising of flight change times to VA23/VA24 and also for the final MEL-PER leg, so accepted the changes, and decided to retrieve my reservation to have the itinerary re-sent. When the booking came up I thought OK, I'll have another go at seat selection (I'd tried ringing the GCC a few times recently to do it over the phone, but experienced very long wait times so hadn't been able to get it sorted out yet). Lo and behold, the seat map came up for the domestic legs - great, I thought, but then ... Selected seat PER-MEL, then it tells me online seat selection is now NOT available for MEL-LAX (although my original seat selection still shows on my itinerary for that leg, and seat selection IS still working for the LAX-MEL leg, but I didn't want to change the international ones anyway LOL), select seat MEL-PER, and then get a message saying "all guests have not been allocated a seat. Please press Cancel or Continue to select again" - I'm travelling on my own, so there are no other guests! So click "Continue" and it then takes me right back to the start of the seat selection process, starting with the PER-MEL flight. Tried again, and again .... after going around in that same "circle" 4 times, I gave up!!! Part of the problem may be that there are also 7 flights listed for seat selection, although there's only 4 on the itinerary - the flights where time changes have occurred are each listed twice.

Not hugely concerned - as others have said, there's not really any bad seats in J domestic on the A330 (fingers crossed that it's not switched out!) :), but it appears there's still a few bugs in the seat selection system!

There are bugs everywhere... I had to ring the Plat line earlier today to enquire how to use the Travel Bank with a Points & Pay intl booking, only to be told that despite the website saying I could, actually you can't use Travel Bank in this case!

On the other hand, I was able to select seats for all legs on MEL-SYD-AUH-LHR, and both international legs are operated by EY. I was staggered! Let's see if they stick between now and Feb...

You not alone, seat selection with VA is a joke.. I feel your pain hope I am Plat. and have problems just doing a simple seal selection for a domestic MEL-PER.. Good luck....
I have rang and spoken to them re this problem several times in the last 12 months and I keep getting they are working on it.
All I can think of is they must be using the work experience kids from the local high school working on their computer software project...
