Thanks All, its just a quick overnighter to gain the SC's and Qantas have a sale at the moment where I can get the Best Western at $199 Plus bonus points, so might go for that.
Also on the way to the Broome run need a hotel close to Perth airport for the first night...any ideas
Best Western isn't too bad, nice bar across the road - Blanche Bar at the bottom of the apartment building. It's now Karratha's "finest" Good food (For Karratha anyway) and typically Pilbara priced! It's in a bit of a **** spot at the moment due to the massive amount of construction going on in town but close to everything.
Personally I would opt for a hire car, the Taxi service is
USELESS. If you book likely they won't show on time and that's all of the company's. Also for a 15 minute trip it will set you back 50 bucks to the Best Western!
There is a Shuttle
DAMPIER ENTERPRISES PTY LTD - Airport Shuttle (08)9183 8848TEXT: 0427 752 [email protected] ($30 each way)
Or you could hire a car cheaper and have a look around if you haven't been here before. TBH if I wasn't working next weekend I would have offered to pick you up myself, it's disgusting what options we have to and from the airport and with Taxi's completely unreliable for the general public and the costs that is being charged for a 15km trip on direct roads is just shocking.
I can PM you the number of the taxis direct (as we get them to/from work) if you want to make a booking, it's a lot more reliable than going through their call centre
Broome:
Frangipani should be able to offer you some good rates and that is a really nice spot, if you have a car it's better but Taxis in Broome are a plenty as is a bus service with a stop out the front. Think they generally charge around $275 per night and you get a 1 bedroom villa.
Perth:
Hotel near airport in Perth, stay away from any hotel/motel on the Great Eastern Highway. I have stayed at them all and have not found one that is any good or quiet yet! My recommendation is the Crown Metropol or Crown Promenade at the Casino, plenty of meal options and something to do as well. The Highway hotels; some have restaurants, some with shocking hours and the noise is just shocking at all of them. Can get the Metropol for $250 a night sometimes and it's the best Hotel in Perth by far.
