Last year's midwest trip was a mix, hotel-wise. In Memphis I staid at the Peabody, in Dallas, the Magnolia. Both were charming, older hotels. The rest of the time, I picked third-line places - Hyatt Place, Hilton Garden, Doubletree etc. - which are comfortable, cheap and soul-less.

I'm looking for an older hotel in Kansas City for next April, as opposed to the convention hotel at Overland Park where I lay my head last time. Any ideas?
