I am leaving for Delhi and got a ticket only in Malaysian Airlines.
I have a transit (day time) of 12 hours at KL.
I want to know the best way to get into the city and any tips to spend time.
Is there a train from Airport to the City. Some websites talk about it, but some do not. Not sure if the ones who refer to the train link are referring to the old airport. If I take a taxi, how much will it cost to go to the city?

Any good places for shopping - clothes, electronics?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi. I was in KL in January, so this information should be pretty current. There's an airport express that goes from KLIA to the Sentral Stesen (Central Station) in KL, which is much faster (about 35 minutes) and considerably cheaper than a taxi. I've taken the taxi before, and it's around an hour, depending on the KL traffic.

From Sentral, you can connect with a number of the urban transit lines (which don't really connect up). Once you're in the centre of KL, taxis are cheap, but the traffic flow can be problematic. For shopping, I'd suggest the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), which is located under the twin Petronas Towers. It has a wide range of shops, and a great food court. You can get free tickets to the observation decks of the towers, but you have to go early to queue up. Alternatively, you can take a taxi to the KL Tower and view the city from there.

Thanks HardieBoys. That is very helpful. I am flying this weekend. I am arriving at KL in the morning and leaving for Delhi in the night. My Trvel Agent says that the airline will give me day-use accommodation in a good hotel as "it is not by my choice - the airline (Malaysian) does not have any earlier connections". I am yet to see the details. I will be collecting my docos tomorrow.
