I've been reading up on the Korean Air SKYPASS program and something about its status tiers just doesn't make sense to me.

Korean Air seems to offer just one status tier that you can renew on an annual/two-yearly basis: Morning Calm Club.

This gives you various benefits on Korean Air, but only SkyTeam Elite status (which doesn't really get you that much).

Their next tier is Morning Calm Club Premium, which is equivalent to SkyTeam Elite Plus, but that's a lifetime tier that you only get after earning 500,000 miles with the SKYPASS program.

Am I missing something or does this program not really make sense?

Did a bit of fast research and confirm what you've found.

I'm not sure if you can conclude it's a "program [that does] not really make sense", but there you go - you can only get ST Elite in KE Skypass by going for their first lifetime tier.

Must make for some interesting dynamics for the lounge situation for KE.
