I rang Qantas yesterday to check an award booking issue from ZQN-SYD-MEL and asked about lounge access in ZQN. To my surprise, I was told that QC members, SG/WP, and biz passengers have access to all AirNZ Koru Club Lounges in NZ (except AKL). After the recent desertion of Qantas from NZ, I thought this was pretty sweet, especially considering AirNZ is partnere with Star Alliance.

Has this arrangement been around long? What's ZQN Koru like? Bar?? :D

Bugger it! - I could have had some free brewskis at ZQN 2 weeks ago rather than hanging around in that bar and cafe- less Int airside area!

Thought with NZ being part of *A and all, even WPs would have buckleys of getting into the Koru lounge.

Well last ski season the rule was that QC’s (and above maybe) were given a $50 voucher for the bar/cafe area. That $50 voucher was actually really good value.

Haven’t heard that QC’s and above now have access to the lounges, surely this would be on the QF website if true?

Oh and ZQN’s Koru Club overlooks a departure hall (it’s upstairs) and is a small room with chairs and good mountain views. Last time I was there was a while ago though, so the layout may have changed… but the room I know is the same size.

I was in ZQN March last year and at check-in the Agent handed me a card and PIN (in case the NZ attendant wasn't there) to get in. It's not airside so you still need to clear customs etc but has some nice food, wine/beer etc. Not huge, but as QF only flies 737s to ZQN not many use it.

Not sure about QC access as we were flying in J, but others may have used it when not in J.

Was there last March, as a QC member we were given an invitation card. Yes its small especially if there is an Air NZ flight departing. Good views of the sleet falling (mostly horizontal) outside. Nice Kiwi wine, beer, limited sprits I remember. Simple but good food.
This is the only Air NZ lounge I have been invited to, certainly not Chch, Dunedin or Auckland.:-|

I believe the loungeaccess is provided for those eligible QF PAX flying internationally out of ZQN.

Not for any on JQ.

I'm assuming you were all flying QF/JQ when you have been given access due to the fact you had QC/SG/WP right?

Or were you flying Y in NZ and given access due to the fact you had QC/SG/WP?

Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me either way to be honest, but would be a very good thing indeed if EITHER were the case!

Last July I flew out on QF in Y as a QP member and was given a $50 coupon, not lounge access. Seems odd it was so vastly different.

2006 and 2007, as SG and then QP, I was not allowed to the Air NZ club. I was told it is for CL only. On the door it says "Entry to club by Qantas only allowed by management authorisation" ..... I wasn't given a voucher.

I guess things have changed!
