With SQ one gets status by flying and by the $$ value of paid flights. Hence this is tracked. Read up on the SQ site on the PPS and other status levels.

Points from CC, hotel, car-hire etc have no bearing on status, but can be redeemed equally with points earnt by flying (or combined with them).

Elite Miles refers to how many paid Butt In Seat miles flown and is used for elite qualification.

Similarly, Elite Value refers to the amount of $$$$ that you have spent on SQ and is used for elite qualification.

Points refers to how many points you have earnt via BIS miles as well as earnt/transferred from other sources such as credit cards. This has no bearing on elite status, but has a bearing with that you can redeeem down the track.

Is it possible this thread can be moved to the Singapore Krisflyer forum which will allow this thread to grow in that area of knowledge.

Yep I knew that, just for simplicity in answering the OP's query ;)

yes, thought you would, just thought I would add it in case someone picked up this thread in 2 years time wondering why the $900 they spent on SQ didn't appear ....
