Just completed a stay at this relatively new (7 months old) hotel and have nothing but good things to say.

This hotel cuts a very hip modern image. There are helpful young staff everywhere to open doors, ask if they can assist etc. This hotel just wants to impress.

We arrived early at 7.30 am and were immediately checked into an available room. I asked about a late check out and was offered 3pm but I think this would not be offered if they were busy. So far so good.

Key entry is by card which you also need to swipe to select any floor in the lift. The room is spacious and ceilings are high. Bathroom is very modern and functional. There is the usual toothbrushes, as well as a razor and shaving cream, body lotion, nail file, make-up removal pads, etc. Free bottled water is offered as is plunger coffee, tea, etc.

Having said I had only good things to say I remember I do have one negative and that is whilst the internet is free it is slow. When I mentioned this they had their IT bloke straight up to look at it. After looking at it sternly he went away and pages continued to open very slowly.

Rooftop pool and bar were great. Sit around in an oversize bean-bag with a drink whilst gazing at the night sky and lights of the city.

This hotel is not uptown but it is directly opposite the Sentral Station which is very handy to the airport express train and all trains around KL. When you leave for the airport you can even do your check-in and baggage deposit at the station prior to boarding the train.

How was breakfast? (if you had breakfast that is )

Breakfast was not bad. Malay curries with Ican Bilis sides, Malay noodle dish, rice, steamed Chinese dumpling thingies and other steamed stuff (yeah ok, just don't ask me), stuff that you dipped into boiling water with sauces to go with it, assorted breads and rolls, omelete to order, a quiche thing, assorted fruit pieces, yoghurts in different flavours, cereals, cheeses, assorted sweet Asian pastries, muffins, fruit juices, but no fired eggs or bacon. Even a full complement of ingredents to make your own Ice Kace. Teas and coffees. I tried a little of everything.

SPG Gold members get 20% discount off the 45MRT price (AUD$15).

I did not realise the breakfast is that reasonable, will have to give it a spin later this week. I quite like the hotel for a night after arriving from a long flight but I think it's a little overpriced when the Le Merid and Sheraton are often within $20, although I do like the fact they don't have the 10% service charge, something that gives me the ***** when often you don't get service.

May not have that old colonial charm but Aloft is service plus plus plus ++++++. They really go out of their way to impress. Every staff member you encounter (and there are lots of them) asks if there is anything they can help you with. Very responsive.

My stay was one up from their bottom tier price and cost 348MRT, about AUD $127.

I have just booked KL for mid next year-the Le meridian was 300MR and the aloft 290MR so I have gone with Le Meridien.
Would like to try an Aloft though.

Most of the Hotel WiFi's I have used have always been slow.

Just noticed post by markis10 on same hotel titled .... Aloft Kuala Lumpur - not bad for a basic hotel
Perhaps mods could merge the 2 threads?

FTR the rooftop pool now closes at 11pm and bar continues past this.

What's this about 2,000 bonus points?

Best rate guarantee, you get 2000 pts per room for up to three rooms, pretty good value if the room is $80.

I found my stay here in June pretty much the same as all other aLofts I've stayed at - excellent.

Modern, without being too try-hardish (as much as I love Ws, and I do love Ws, having stayed in 10 or so, some of them really do try too hard), comfortable, all the amenities you could want, 24hr gym, and excellent value. Sure it's not a W, or a Westin, but then you're generally paying about 1/3 of W and Westin money. :) For business travel, or for a stopover in a city - I'd happily choose aLoft if available.

I'd never stayed in Sentral before (only ever the Mandarin Oriental, Westin, and way out near Subang on a golf resort) and while there's pretty much nothing around Sentral, the train makes it easy to get anywhere (especially the airport! I was skeptical about the KLIA at first but now won't take anything else during peak hour). :)

3 thumbs up.

Cheers,
- Febs.

PS: I love aLoft's takeaway breakfast bags. On a short business trip I'll often try to maximise sleep and skip breakfast, so being able to grab something (healthy), with a coffee or OJ, and eat it in the car on the trip to the office, is brilliant. :)

The egg station will fry you some eggs or poach them in addition to Omelletes, very good value. Kicking myself for it being my fourth stay but first try at breakfast. I note its a 50% discount for the dinner buffet, wonder what it's like?

Not sure if I like the per station of the deli items, although one thing brilliant in Asia is the ready availability of Emmental cheese.

An Aloft egg dog, soon to be seen in a VA lounge near you.

Just had 5 nights in this hotel and couldn't be happier.

On check-in we were given complimentary breakfast for our entire stay when we mentioned it was our wedding anniversary.

Had no issues with the internet as mentioned earlier in the thread - currently downloading at almost 1MB/s.

Just ate at the 50% off (70RM down to 35RM) buffet dinner which was very nice, at least if not better than the standard of breakfast. Included teppanyaki, satay sticks cooked to order, a decent assortment of seafood, curries, roasts and a large desert area. The 35RM includes water, coffee and tea.

dont take this the wrong way, I have lived in Asia for sometime, but I find that overpowering service quite in your face and I always got sick and tired of batting back with some glib line.

good service is unobtrusive, observant then responsive. Qantas at their best demonstrates this well.
