Hi All

I am finally going to do a status run, in a few weekends time.
Doing a LAN J $742 return. and QF Y flights MEL-SYD. Should get 180 SC's in total.

Arriving Sat afternoon 2pm, Leaving back for Syd Sun morning.

Can any suggest a good hotel in AKL city around the $150-170 mark?

Considering I am only there for a short time what can I do in Auckland or surrounds in an afternoon?
Any Museums etc?

Thanks!! :)

Given the early morning departure have you considered a airport hotel? The Novotel and Formule One hotel offer good value for money. Novotel is a 5 minute walk from international terminal.

As far as museums go the main museum is the Auckland War Memorial museum. A grand old building situated in the domain. Has good views of the harbour as well. It is a good 30-40 minute walk from the city or you could take the bus. Auckland Art gallery is in the city. MOTAT is a technology museum in Western Springs is about a 20-30 minute bus ride from the city. If the weather is good there is a nice beach and park at mission bay (15 mins by bus). Also a ferry trip to Devonport can be a good way to spent the afternoon.

Flight booked with LAN today, was surprised that the booking appears in my Qantas 'My Bookings' section even though I booked with LAN.
Is there any benefit calling QF to link my domestic booking MEL-SYD with my LAN booking?

From my experience it does not seem to matter though probably a good idea in theory.

If the LAN flight is late QF just slip you onto the next flight.

Not sure if this means anything, but I've noticed that 'I' class shows up as premium economy in QF activity and has done for a year.

Yikes! as long as it posts with the correct amount of Status credits as per business? eg. 160 SC's return?

I flew LAN SYD-AKL-SYD in September last year and it came through as Business for me, my QF MEL-SIN-LHR-SIN-MEL in April was I too and it all came through OK as business.

Any suggestions for the best seat in LAN J?
I've been auto allocated 5A but most rows have seats available, I can select 1A?

Thank goodness I don't appear to have this problem  Almost all of my QF long haul is in I and posts with J points and SC

1A/B is reserved for Qantas flight number tickets. So if you are in a LA ticket you are out of luck

I booked via LAN on LA800 flight number, 1A is available for me to select.
I believe that BB and I had 1A & B coming back from AKL on one occasion. (LAN tickets)

Anyone know what the LAN J menu is like for SYD-AKL LA800 flight?
