Looks like a great offer, but I want to head North :(

Are there any ski fields in Buenos Aires, that could be worth a look.

Well, yes, but it's a long way north (and a bit west too i would think).

I seem to recall Santiago (chile) has snowfields that are an easy drive from the city / airport - my parents visited the hills there last September as a daytrip and definitely saw snow on the roadside. There's also heaps of wineries etc for lunch and so on.

If contemplating skiing, have a look at flying to SCL instead (either QF SYD-EZE-SCL or likely cheaper: LAN SYD-AKL-SCL).

In Argentina you would want to go to Bariloche for skiing, which is a fair distance from Buenos Aires.

For Chile, Valle Nevado is very close to Santiago - but during peak season, it can be rather expensive Valle Nevado Ski Resort: Hotels and Apartments Rates

The airfare seems to be O class base fare of 961 AUD, but for 75 USD you can purchase 1 stopover, so if a ski trip in Chile then a few days in Baires is your thing, it could be perfect.

Ok, for crediting to QFF at Economy Status Credits:

BGHKLMNOQSVY

NB, points are not earned in GNOQ classes on domestic flights within Chile, GKLMNOQSV classes on domestic flights within Argentina and GLMNOQSV classes on domestic flights within Peru.

Could also be worth crediting to AAdvantage:

International (outside South America)
G, N, O, Q, S
100% EQM
50% EQP

Plus whatever RDM bonuses you receive for your status level.

No min 1000mi either of course.

Can confirm first-hand V fare bucket intra-Chile earns SCs, plus status bonus miles.

Actually, only Y will (or at least should) credit SC at Economy. The others should be Discount Economy. At least that is what the SC earning chart says.

Does anyone else have this aside from Bestflights? Weird that the price on the LAN web site is basically double this.

Best price I could find on LAN site was 1597.82 for mid September

Any travel agent should be able to access the fare.. but it looks as if O class availability is rather scarce on LA 800 / 801, so would need to be very flexible on possible dates.

Personally, the I class Business fares are much more attractive for such a long distance, but at AUD 4999 +++ the ski trip starts to add up :)
