I'm about to do my first international status run; LAN J class SYD-AKL-SYD, an old favourite from my lurking...

Any advice about seat selection/flying LAN/etc from more seasoned LAN status earners?

Not really - it's a 2-2-2 config, and they're all just as good as each other. Obviously choose the centre if you want a guaranteed aisle, but the alternative is a window, so not too bad either. Given the usually light load, just try and get a seat to yourself somewhere. Never had any problems with luggage storage or LAN's J service (though breakfast is pretty heavy for the OMG o'clock departure).

Speaking of which, the worst of it is having to wait for AKL to open customs and immigration in order to get airside and to the lounges - they really don't hurry, and you can end up waiting for quite a bit (long enough for it to be difficult to get access to a free QP shower thanks to QF pax and transiting LAN pax).
