Just saw the ad today at Mx newspaper, as well as www.lan.com:

Return Sydney-Sao Paulo/Santiago/Rio De Janiero/Lima: A$1379 (inc taxes)

Return Melbourne-Lima/Sao Paulo: $A1589 (inc taxes)
etc .....

This is pretty cheap especially this is OW airline and their service is pretty good ...... Usually airfares to South America is pretty expensive!

It's a great deal for South America, Aerolinas are about $280 cheaper, but from all reports it's not worth the saving over the LAN fare.

Welcome to 2009, the year of awesome travel deals!

Just check http://www.aerolineas.com.ar/ar/index_en.asp?pais=au&idi=en and return SYD-EZE is like A$1150 all in. Wow! But LAN earns points for OW carriers which would suit most people here, not to mention the status credits (SYD-AKL-SCL-GIG for example) .......

$1104 inc taxes to be exact, though the most common response I hear from colleagues and clients upon returning from flying Aerolinas are "never again, not for all the money in the world", so SC and FF pts aside, i'd still fly LAN anyday.
