Sad to see the last QF1 and QF29 operated yesterday. I am sure some will miss them as far as timing goes etc.

Ohhhh is that why I'm having dramas booking flights from HKG to europe? Things went a bit strange there for a while.

The loss of qf 29 really annoys me as I liked the late departure ex-Mel allowing you a full day before leaving (as well as connecting from other cities).

QF/BA will be unique amongst the major players on the Kangaroo Route in not offering a night-time departure towards LHR ex-MEL (and other Australian cities):

It is a similar story ex-LHR. Interestingly, the Asian carriers, ex LHR, spread their departure times out fairly evenly throughout the day (SQ does a 12PM, 6PM, 10PM).

I wrote a post examining the new schedule and discussing how QF could alter their HKG flights to allow for a night-time connection towards LHR and a daytime LHR-Australia:

Qantas – fewer flights, less choice to London « I like to get around

Agree. It's also the last scheduled Qantas B747 out of both MEL and LHR :(

Was on QF2 last night, officially last Qantas 747 service from London. They made a couple of an announcements about it, part of a bit of history I guess. Crew were hopefully they'll be back one day... Flight was full with op-ups a plenty. Couple that checked in before us upgraded to J as we're another pair I met in the lounge. Myself and partner upgraded to PE.

Will miss the link on Qantas metal from BKK to LHR, but as for timings the timings of the 'new' service to BKK are a whole lot better, especially the arrival time into Bangkok. Sure the hell beats a midnight arrival.
