I was checking my kid's QFF accounts to ensure they weren't about to expire the few points they had, and I was surprised to see the following on the Summary page :- "Last point activity: Jul 2012"

They had taken a domestic award flight today (using my points) which does not exactly fulfil the criteria stated on the same page that :- "Points will not expire provided you {my emphasis}earn or use points (excluding family transfers) at least once every 18 months."

Is this a glitch or is using someone else's points considered activity? Not that I'm complaining, mind. It means I don't have to hunt around for their EDR cards and buy them a slab of beer each!

The award flights ... which are all 0 points and 0 SCs of course. I just didn't think they met the criteria, but it seems that using a family member's points is good enough. Seems like double-dipping to me as I should also get credited with the activity.

Actually I take that back - my Last Activity is June 2012. Weird. But perhaps I got the recognition when I booked the awards back in May.

I wouldn't count on this being "activity", but you never know.

It might be worth digging into the T&C to check if flights count as activity regardless of earning.

I would say it counts as an earn - just with zero points.
Similarl i suspect a jq saver flight with ff no added - also zero earn will reset

The points transfer to an eligible family member doesn't count as activity.
Flying on an award flight does count as activity - see 2. definitions -active member here.

The full quote from the T&C is as follows :-

'Active Member' at a point in time, means a Member who has earned or redeemed Points or Status Credits (excluding any transfer of points to or from an Eligible Family Member) on their Membership account within the previous consecutive 18 whole month period from that point in time;

I still can't see how they have earned or redeemed any points. Their balance is the same as it ever was, but they now have "Last Activity" of July 2012.
