I know these two codeshare but I can't find a way to book LA flights between SCL-GRU as QF.

bummer. So I have to book LA Y class otherwise I won't get extra baggage, lounge etc.

The only thing you will get with QF status when flying LATAM is lounge access and only at selected airports where LATAM has its own lounge (e.g. SCL).
Even with a PE LATAM fare you get the standard 23kg bag, albeit you get 16kg carry on

QF Classic rewards comes with baggage allowance if that helps.

Are you planning on staying in SCL? If not, be aware that if you’re on seperate bookings it’s highly likely you’ll need to enter Chile and recheck for the onward flights. Oz PP holders need a visa that must be applied for in advance and doesn’t happen quickly.

I can confirm that if you are on QF27, they wont be able to tag your bags onto your final destination. You will need to get your bags, enter Chile, check with LATAM and re-enter Chile for which you will need a transit visa

My plan is to jump on next available flight after QF27. Bummer I can't merge flights.

There is little to no queue on immigration when entering Chile. It took me about 30 min overall entering, checking in LATAM, dropping bag, and then exiting Chile/immigration.

When did you pass through? There was a huge conga line in Feb arriving off QF 27 but less of line flying in from BA a few weeks later.

However, they were installing eGates of some description. Someone else might know if they’re operating now and whether Oz PP holders can use them.

That's good to know!

Shouldn't be taken as typical. I had 40 mins on one recent visit (having been warned by my travel agent, who was there a week prior, to expect an hour or so)

The second time, a few days later, it was quick.

Agree, I was on separate tickets and left a 4 hour gap. It obviously depends on the destination where they may not be as many frequencies.
