Late Night MEL Arrival

Hey All,

Arriving late into MEL at 23.45.

Doesnt look like I will be able to get to anything back to CBR until 08.45 the following morning.

Does anything stay open that late? Any lounges, arriving Qatar, havent sorted out the morning flight yet but could go VA or Q.

Saw there is a hotel inside the airport but looks like $300 for 8 hours feels like a horrendous deal

Quite a few hotels in the precinct, the Ibis Budget would be the cheapest most days, but you have:
Parkroyal
Holiday Inn
Novotel
Ibis
And down the road Mantra

These should be open 24hrs landside if you are desperate...

Picketts Deli+ Rotisserie near the VA checkin
Maccas at T3

There should be a Smart carte near international arrivals If you want to store your bags and not book a hotel (and head into town)
The QF domestic lounge should open 0500am.

Guess you are arriving international on QR and then on domestic flight to CBR
Will not be able at access the international departute lounges (~Qatar) even if they were open.

The Ibis Budget is ~10minute walk, under the freeway behind Maccas. Recepition is not open at that time, so would need to use the kiosk thingy.
Others a few minutes walk from terminals.

Some times Accor Red Hot Rooms can be of value. So the Novotel less than the Ibis. These are at T4 (JQ REX in the same building. Close to T3 VA.

I feel safer walking around Cairo of an evening than walking around Melbourne

Can you get to CBR via Cairo instead? Be careful wandering around MEL in the dark. Yeah, not really on-point, but ….

Should be quite possible - but he is flying in on Qatar so he may not be keen to go back to CAI...

Various iterations of this exist at similar properties. Enter details on screen, receive room key once computer is content.
It's the box to the right of the front door, in ibis red, of course!



Note: I haven't personally stayed here, but I have used similar machines elsewhere - shouldn't trouble the majority.
