Hi everyone. I'm just looking for some advice as to whether to take this further now...

I flew EY AUH-SYD in PE on VA metal on 02 Aug 2012. As far as I can see, this is worth a fair chunk of SCs however I'm still yet to be credited with them. After waiting the initial 4 weeks, sending in my boarding pass, being told to wait another 2 weeks, following up again, and now being told to wait another 5 weeks (!)

I wouldn't mind so much except last weekend's flights finally bumped me up to Gold, with a review date of 19 Sept. My AUH-SYD flight should have pushed me well past Gold back on 2 Aug, except it's yet to be credited. Which means I will miss out on all my flying in the past 6 weeks being credited towards my maintaining Gold. Which I guess technically means my AUH-SYD flight won't count for anything at all? So, I asked VFF about whether my review date will be backdated to 2 Aug when the SCs are finally posted and they replied:

Unfortunately we are not able to back date your upgrade to an earlier date (2/08/2012) or alter the date on which Status Credits are credited to your account.

As you reach your review date next year, should you feel that the Status Credits would enable you to maintain your status, please feel free to contact us to request that these Status Credits are taken into consideration as part of your review.

I feel a bit uneasy about leaving it for a whole year, where VFF could easily just deny me requalification if it's close. I'd rather have them credited now if it is at all possible - and from reading some older threads it seems it sometimes is. Do you think it's worth following this up with them and do I have a chance of getting my review date backdated? Also, is it reasonable to wait another 5 weeks for the AUH-SYD points?!

Thanks for any suggestions!

Sounds like you wont miss out on anything, if the missing SCs dont count in this years total then you are welcome to call them and point out the issue, I am sure they will have no issues with a requal on that basis.

You might be getting close to Plat as well and if you think you might be able to achieve Plat the order will not matter. There might also be some small differences in the Gold 50% Bonus points earn but it would most likely be better if the AUH-SYD flight is calculated on you being Gold unless you have done a heap of flying since you should have been Gold from the AUH-SYD flight. The bonus earn on AUH-SYD premium should be around 4,691 points on top of the 9382 points earn.

Once the AUH-SYD flight credits with 120 SC's you are over 1/4 of the way to Gold requal but you should also have at least 620+ plus status credits however some could have already dropped of so you would need to look at your rolling year history to see when status credits drop of and if you are getting close to Plat you might need to book a Status run or take a weekend away etc if you are interested in becoming Plat.

I have a question for anyone. I have qualified for VA plat status as of May of this year. Since qualifying, I have earned nearly 800 more status credits. It says that I have now requalified for plat until May 2014. My question is what happens now? If I earn another 800 from now will that mean I will requalify until 2015 or does it just stay at 2014? Just curious becasue maybe if my SC's dont count for anything, I may go back to QF for a while and rebuild my stauts there if my extra VA flights count for nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Another 800 after the 800 requalify in this member benefit period (the period before your review date) will not qualify you for another year as you say. You can however earn another 500 or 1,000 and gift companion Gold or Plat respectively to a family member or a friend. .

Thanks for that info I appreciate it. I did 'gift' Gold to my wife the other day when I hit 1,500 SC. Once she gets to Plat not sure what I will do from there... Thanks again
