Hi, have a booking on 1 ticket from Las Vegas to Sydney flying LAS to LAX on Alaska, 3 hour stopover and then LAX to SYD on Qantas. I assume when checking in at LAS, the bags will be checked in all the way to Sydney. When checking in at LAS, would I also get the boarding pass for the Qantas flight and when i land at LAX, then walk airside to terminal B and not have to go through security or would i need to check in at Terminal B and go though security?

Since on the one ticket at LAS they should check the luggage all the way through to SYD. They should be able to give you all boarding passes but if they can't give you the SYD BP, you can collect one at a Qantas lounge entrance (see below) or at the gate. Note that Qantas ordinarily use biometric boarding these days at LAX, matching your mug with your passport, no paper or app barcode required.

You can walk airside from T6 to TBIT. Go down tunnel at T6 and follow the signs to T5/T4 (Do not follow any signs to baggage claim or you may have to to reclear security!). Go past T5 staying in tunnel to T4. Head up escalator at T4, turn right and head down to Gate 41 on left. Follow signs to Tom Bradley (walk past G41 lounge), go up escalator and follow the elevated connector to TBIT.

If you have access to a Qantas lounge, stay on the connector level, do not go down any escalator. At the end of the connector passage there is a right hand turn. The First lounge entrance is immediately there, or if you have business lounge access, proceed ~80 metres to the entrance of the Business lounge.

Thank you for that.

I did this 14 months ago. Alaska didn't issue BP for flight to Sydney. I walked through tunnels to lounge and got BP there.

Importantly, you can only get your BP at the lounge if you are entitled to enter the lounge. We were flying J, but they were refusing to deal with Boarding Passes for those who were not entitled to enter.

edit: the tunnels are great, quite and easy to follow.

Exact same experience early last year - flying Y but they verified status before helping us.

We did a similar transfer in Feb and AS didn't print boarding passes for QF12. We found the walk to TBIT easy, with the signage easy to follow, and had BPs printed at the F Lounge.
As @serfty mentioned earlier, they’re doing facial recognition to board QF12 (no scanning of BPs). So you might be able to get by with an electronic BP since you‘re already airside. Someone else might confirm if that’s ok.

If you don’t have lounge access and no BP at all, I would make myself known to the staff at the boarding gate.

As an aside, I did the reverse a couple weeks ago QF11 to AS and QF issued all BPs but the AS boarding gate couldn’t read them… (and I wasn’t able to get them on the AS app) 😔.
