LAX checkin time [is from 3:30pm]

Was wondering if anyone travelling on VA2 has ever had any luck checking in before the 3 hour opening time? Getting into LAX around 5 and checkin would be opening at 6:50 would love to just check in and waste time in the lounge rather than meandering around terminal 3.

Departure Information
Virgin Australia counters open at 3:30pm. Our staff will be available at this time to process bookings and assist Virgin Australia guests.

Old thread I know.

The link from notzac now says the VA Checkin at TBIT LAX opens 3 hours before a flight.

I’m on VA8 in a month or so which is 10pm departure. I would love to be able to check in luggage at 3.30pm and head out for a few hours .. has anyone had any experience with doing this lately or is it definitely only 3 hours now?

I’ll be local in LA, not connecting.
