Hi all,

What do you think the chances of a 90 minute connection are.

Arriving VA @ 0930 on a Sunday and departing AA to Miami 1100.

I know this is less than stipulated but do you think I have any chance.

This is the second time VA have changed flight times on me for the same route......GRRRRRRR

Thanks

Highly unlikely. You will not only have to clear immigration but collect bags, change terminals and re check in prior to AA's cut off time. Any flight delay even by 10 mins would put you out, as well as not knowing how many other flights landing at that time

In September, we landed at 9.40am on a Saturday and clearing immigration and customs plus collecting bags and changing terminals only took slightly more than thirty minutes. Our bags were not tagged through so needed to be checked in again, and the flights were not on airlines in the same alliance (QF to Virgin America) and on separate tickets. I understand this is not normal and I guess you should not rely on this to occur every single time but it is possible that you make it.

Good luck!

With checked bags it is rather 50-50 that you'd make the 30 minute check-in deadline for USA domestic.

It doesn't sound like you'd have a fun time rushing. If there was a later option I'd probably go for it.

If your connecting flight is on the same booking, you might be alright. We flew into LAX in June with a similar connection time for a flight to Vancouver. To make matters worse, our Qantas flight was delayed and we were convinced that we wouldn't make the connecting flight. However, on exiting the plane, there were LAX staff handing out 'fast-passes' or something like that, they were orange cards that allowed us to bypass all the queues through immigration and once we collected our luggage and the same then happened again with re-check in of our luggage. I was extremely impressed with the service at LAX.
