Hi all,

First time to this airport. Come in on QF093 travelling in "J" and first time on A380. Is it a big deal transferring between these terminals? I have 3 hours so should get an hour or so in lounge. If anyone has any tips they would be much appreciated. Also will make SG for the first time and will be interested to see if I am treated any different on the way home...Cheers CM

QF93 MEL-LAX arrives at TBIT (Terminal B). This is next to T4 and you walk outside between the two in a few minutes.

Posted in July 2012:

Best from TBIT to airside T4 was 35 minutes when travelling First on QF93.

Worst was 80 minutes after taking 55 of that waiting in the immigration queue.

Process is:

  • Check bags through to PHX at checking in Oz
  • Fly to LAX
  • Disembark Aircraft
  • Walk through the dungeon like corridors to TBIT immigration (some travelators may be working)
  • Queue up
  • Be processed by Immigration
  • Collect bags
  • Proceed to/through customs processing
  • Head up ramp, look for signs for baggage "re-deposit"
  • Re-deposit bags
  • Head out landside
  • Get upstairs one level at TBIT (lift/stairs)
  • head right and walk the 100 metres or so to T4 (150 metres if having rights to Priority AAccess)
  • Go through security
  • Await ongoing flight ...

The queue before being processed by USA immigration is generally the longest part.
I presume you will already have your PHX BPs'.

Finally AA flight from LAX tend to commence boarding ~35 minutes before scheduled departure

Edit: According to Expert Flyer, the average delay of QF93 over the last two months was 35 minutes. It was late by more than 45 minutes on 10 days in the past 62

Landed at T2 many time when travelling with Air NZ.

It's similar to TBIT arrivals in that you do immigration, customs and then bag drop if they have been tagged through.

If not you need to lug them around to T4 - Use the "A" bus (also do this if it raining).

If no checked luggage to lug - you can walk between the ctrol and restaurant towers then across/though the carpark buildings.

The stops for the 'A' bus are where the blue circles with LAX near the top are indicated. (LAX Shuttle & Airline Connection)

When you do make SG and your account shows as such, then suggest you contact QF in USA and ensure that your status is updated on the PNR.
