Leaving Changi airport during transit time

Hi folks,

Hope everyone is keeping well. I have a flight booked from Perth-Singapore-London but have a 6-hour transit in Singapore before my flight to London. I would love to be able to use this as an opportunity to spend a little bit of time with my family rather than just stay at the airport. I have confirmed that my luggage is checked all the way through to London.

I've seen there was another thread all the way back in 2015 where it sounded like we are in fact allowed to leave the airport and return without any issues. I was wondering if anyone knew if this might still be the case?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes! Just complete and submit the electronic arrival card before presenting yourself at the immigration counter:

You're a star, thank you!

If you're planning to get duty free alcohol to take to London, you may need to buy it from the transit shops first before you head downstairs to arrivals immigration to allow enough time for them to deliver it to your boarding gate when you're back for the outbound flight.

We did this late last year. Easy peasy with e-Gates entering/departing. We were on seperate tickets, so had done the online immigration thingy anyway but as it was, our bags were checked through anyway but we still went to the Jewel for a bit of a leg stretch and wander around before the QF F lounge opened.

Note that laptops can only be stored at the Public baggage storage (landside) near the train to the City (Terminal 3) .... I think... just check with them.
That is correct.

On the general topic, there’s no thread on this because it’s pretty much the done thing at all the major stopover airports. Singapore even built a mall at the airport which is land-side just for people to kill even short 2ish hour transits. They actively encourage you to visit.

Just do your SGAC prior to leaving Aus (not mandatory then, just simpler than doing on arrival).

No, not required for the flight to London. Gate delivery of DF alcohol only required for Australia and US bound flights.
