That is tempting...I have to go to London in early October at my own expense (setting up a new business, can't really bill it to anyone) and was looking at cheapo business class fares last night.

Lufthansa and Royal Brunei seem lowest, but I've read some reports of fairly ordinary service and overcrowding on the Lufthansa planes (see, eg, Lufthansa First and Business Class seat reviews and Lufthansa First and Business Class seat comfort tests and passenger reports).

I know you get what you pay for, but can anyone suggest which of the two is better - or better alternatives?

Well, while I can't compare LH to Royal Brunei as I've never flown RB I can only give you my take on LH. I don't mind the seat for day flights. You can adjust it pretty well and it has a memory setting for your preferred position. But that's where it ends. For sleeping I'm trying to avoid it as much as possible. I'm 6'7'' and even though they claim it's 2m long I can tell you that it clearly isn't. I don't know what moron took those measurements.

I would only fly them if I can get into the nose of a 747. The rest of the C cabin looks more like an economy cabin. From memory it's 2-3-2 and it just looks crowded and yes, meal service takes forever.

But then again, I've given up on decent meals in C or F class on pretty much any airline. They just can't get it right. I think LH is brilliant on the ground when you fly F rom FRA or MUC but that's not really what I want to pay for with my flight.

Having said this, I fly LH because they are cheaper than the competition and I can fly via the US to Europe in F for less than $10k. Try to price this on QF or SQ and you'll most likely pay 50% more.

If you get interesting with your dates you can code share on the SQ A380 out of Melbourne and Sydney.

Can't get the base fare but >$6000 round trip to Europe is a good deal in J.
