Where is our resident Canberra Airport reporter, @Ade to the phone please. :)
Really don’t understand how this could happen, you would think someone would have noticed the strap?
I will admit I don’t like sitting next the propellers, if a strap can pierce the frame, what would a piece of a prop do?

Do Pilots have a strap removal part on the checklist?

I find it very strange that they could taxi out with the strap still on. Would it come off during engine start?

Nothing really makes sense.

I'm not working at the airport today ... :) If I was, I'd have reported this promptly :)

Exactly! and I have seen both ground crew, pilots (or first officers) do a walkabout around the aircraft checking things and probes etc ... Wonder how this was missed?

yea, you are right ... imagine the force/speed at which the contact should have happened to have punctured the frame and for the other end to be visible from inside the aircraft .. #Scary!

Although, given the frame was punctured, there would have been a drop in cabin pressure? and people will feel a draw towards the punctured part? Like they show in the movies?

To be fair, does the pilot walk around include making sure these attachments are removed or are they removed by the ground crew after the pilots are in the flight deck?

Anything that can be missed, will eventually be missed.

No. No. And almost all rubbish.

Removal of anything after the pilots have done their walk around is undesirable, but sometimes unavoidable.

There will be some severe butt kicking to the ground crew and the flight crew for the failure to complete the preflight correctly I am sure.
Butt kicking or similar is actually a poor way to improve safety.
Its not about finding fault, and more important to find the reason for the failure, and the reason is usually more complicated than just one person forgetting
