Apologies if someone else has already commented on this, but has anyone spotted the anomaly in this table:

https://www.velocityrewards.com.au/content/Redeem/FlightUpgrades/index.htm

Currently points upgrades are only offered on "Virgin Australia, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue". To the best of my knowledge none of them have 3600 mile + flights. I can't imagine they wouldn't have included figures for it if they didn't at some point intend to introduce the option on V Australia as well (when it becomes part of "Virgin Australia" if not before?)

I certainly hope they are coming soon!

I just spent all of my points, but it would be nice to save up for points for an upgrade for my next big overseas trip.

yeh it would be nice, because Qantas lets silver/gold/plat members use points to upgrade on flights ie. PE to J class and from LA to JFK its only 40k. But thats also because Qantas doesn't have PE from LAX to JFK anymore, and you would otherwise fly economy, so its uprade from Y to J.

Yes, this needs to happen, and soon. I booked PE return SYD to AUH and a business reward AUH to LHR for a trip coming up in February, as I cannot (will not!) fly in economy class on Etihad - they have by far the worst seats for someone my height I have ever encountered for a full service airline.

I strongly suspect that for what this cost me - $2800 + 80,000 points + $300 - I would be able to book a PE fare and upgrade to business class for the whole trip on points when the upgrade system finally materialises. If so, I may eat the change fee and do just that.

This is a huge gap compared to the Qantas or AA (and most other Oneworld airlines) upgrade programs... domestic upgrades are nice, but the value for me is in long haul. Sooner rather than later, please, Virgin!

I hear ya!

Etihad Y economy class is all about flashy advertising but the experience does not live up to it, it was 7 hours of discomfort for me from abu dhabi to paris and then london to abu dhabi.

On the return flight I ask for an ODU (on departure upgrade) but there were no seats on offer. I read a flyer requesting an ODU on a coughet to brisbane flight from premium economy to biz for $500.

Anyway upgrading points in my opinion is the best way to use points, I'm not about to blow away 250k points on a return business class fare to London or Paris. I prefer to buy premium economy and upgrade using points because i believe that is the most effective way of using your points.
