We are flying later this year with our child and soon to be infant. We've already purchased the 2 adults and 1 child tickets and after the baby is born will add him/her to the booking.

We we want to try and get an upgrade on returning flight lax-Bne (booked in flexi Econ) to business class. Would this be possible to do after we add the infant after birth? Or are we better off requesting the upgrade and adding the infant later (in which case would we have to pay a higher 10% fare since the return might be in business)?

I would request before then add the Infant. Also I'm not sure how active Virgin are with charging Infant fares. Flights all booked though Velocity we have flown about 6 return domestics and never been charged the tax's for the Infant, BNE- SIN and BNE - MUC return with Etihad no 10% or tax's, BNE - ZQN with Virgin no 10% or tax's and SYD - LAX with Virgin no 10% or tax's

The baby needs to be ticketed and the only way to do that is pay....(??)
In 2012 we booked a trip Bne-LAX before my first was born then added the infant to the booking over the phone and paid around $250 (economy).

Don't know what to say we have never been charged. All of our flights have been reward bookings don't know if that makes a difference.

I suggest doing it ASAP. Dont wait for birth of infant. If not immediately successful you can apparently apply to be on a waitlist. Add the infant later.
