Hi peeps!
After 3 years of lurking, it's high time I posted something, so here goes.
I'm a university student who reads AFF occasionally when bored. It's quite interesting reading what everyone is up to, and the extreme lengths some people go to (e.g. status runs). And then there's the occasional DYKWIA stories which provide a good laugh.
Prior to my first ever QF flight back in January, I decided to do some "research" on the best A380 seats, courtesy of AFF. Ended up landing 71D for the bargain price of $25 and the extra legroom was absolutely bliss. Previously I didn't really care where I sat or what plane it was, but now I bother to spend some extra time exploring options to see if I can make flights materially better in any way. I know this sort of thing is the exception rather than the norm, but it's still worth trying.
I don't envisage myself getting status in future or doing much flying at the pointy end (all my flying has been in whY, unsurprisingly). Perhaps things will change, who knows...
Cheers,
toasty
