Hi, I have a UA flight economy(Q), landing in Honolulu at 02:50am, and the next leg on HA, HNL/BNE departs at 1:30pm economy(O). sounds like a really bad set up, Qantas Club Member(Silver), VA Gold, any helpful hints to relax/sleep, or purchase lounge entry?

I would recommend an hotel close to the airport. You should have use of the room until 11 or so before needing to check out. As you are in economy - a good sleep will probably be well worth it.

If you can afford it, I'd go to a hotel at the beach (on the airport end of the beach). Have a good sleep, then walk along the beach and have a swim, a nice brekky and watch the world go by for whatever time you have left then go back to the airport. The Roberts Express Shuttle will be operating at 0300, for USD30 return.

I've stayed here a few times over the years. A friendly, retro, family run place 3 mins walk to the beach. http://www.royalgrovehotel.com/Reservations-Waikiki-Beach-Hotels.php

Qantas Club wont be open for you. I'd suggest as other have to get a hotel a couple of blocks from the beach. You should be able to reach the airport in 25 mins.

Definitely hotel room but DONT go to Airport outrigger, it's truly bad and no restaurant (except a baaaaaad breakfast). A taxi into Waikiki at that time will be cheap as chips (15 mins maybe) and you can enjoy a beach walk and swim before leaving. Just let the hotel you're arriving late or they may give your room away. Hilton village is closer than the main part of Waikiki, but it's not that much of a difference. Enjoy Hawaii.

Many moons ago Mrs GPH and I had a similar time frame. We splashed on the Royal Hawaiian. . Really expensive back then , but felt wonderful.

I stayed at that hotel many many years ago - basic but convenient. But back in those days it was about USD80 a night. They seem to be asking double to triple that now

I stayed at the Pacific Marina Inn near HNL last year for a night ahead of an early morning departure. Was about a 15-20 minute walk from the terminal, and they also had a shuttle running every 30 minutes or so from memory. Pretty basic, but did the job.
