Looking for Advice: Using Credit Cards to Pay for New Home Build

Hey everyone,

I’m currently building a new house and have the cash in the bank ready to go. However, I’ve been thinking about using a credit card to pay for the build to earn airline miles, as I’ve heard it can be a great way to rack up points for future travel. I am doing owner builder so not paying a builder directly.

I've never had a credit card before, so I'm completely open to suggestions and advice on which card might be the best fit for this situation. My main goal is to earn the maximum amount of airline miles. However, I also want to be mindful of the credit card surcharges.

Here are some things I’m curious about:

  • Is it actually worth paying the surcharge for the miles earned?
  • What’s the best card for large purchases like this (considering I’ll be paying off the balance immediately)?
  • Are there specific cards or promotions that I should be looking out for?
  • Any other tips to consider when using a credit card for something like this?
Appreciate any input you all have!

Thanks in advance!

Just use any and put all the payments on it. If they don't accept credit card, then consider Yak or Pay etc to pay it
