Hi all,

Travel lover who has just hit 30 and now will be flying more than the annual holiday. Just started work in the travel industry - so will be able to share some knowledge and deals in the future.

Currently with Velocity, just used points (for first time) from last years return flight to Europe to pay for MEL-HBA return in cattle class for weeks getaway with my bride to be.

Have always been smart at shopping around for deals and value, but until now have not really taken any advantage of FF programs.

After points are credited from Tas trip should have 110 status (miles close enough to zero). Have also got 14,500 miles with Skywards (Emirates) but status points have expired.

Will have a few more domestic flights this year - definitely to Brisbane or GC and possibly to Perth. Will be booking a weeks honeymoon in few months time, traveling most likely in July, perhaps to Hawaii. Hopefully end of the year will spend few months in Europe. Will be a trip or two overseas with work as well.

I currently have just the one cc, which has zero benefits. Am considering the current NAB Velocity Platinum Amex offer with 60k points. Any thoughts on this offer or better recommendations?

Would there be much value in joining the likes of IHG or Starwood? Likely to stay minimum of 2 weeks a year. I am very fussy about location when I travel and will not always be brand loyal - am I better off just booking on point earning credit card via Agoda?

Thanks in advance, really looking forward to gaining and sharing the wisdom here. Plus more flights and escaping cattle class (that cheap business flight to coughet with Jetstar doesn't count).

Just a note, if you used points to book your Tassie trip you won't then earn points or SCs on those fares.

Short but sweet, I wouldn't waste points on domestic flights unless completely necessary as points are best saved for J Dom or Int. And as for Agoda, and as much as I try to use them as best I can, they are 10% dearer or more than other sites. I spend hours comparing!!. I do like Agoda as a WP due to bonus points, but I still cringe when hitting the button. If I was Gold or less status I would go to other sites to get the same room for less. My 2 bobs worth :)
