Lounge access as a gold

just dropped from diamond where lounge was a sure thing.

couple of leisure trips through SE asia coming up and was wondering how common lounge access would be as a gold. Firsthand experiences in Bangkok?

any info on other areas of the world may help others so feel free to add experiences from anywhere.

Only get lounge access if you are upgraded to an Exec Room.

If you book one room level below Exec, good chance.
If you book the cheapest room, less of a chance.

When I was last gold got exec in 2/3 stays in KL in cheap rooms.

I've had lounge access including choice of breakfast venue everytime in Millenium Hilton as a Gold but not necessarily upgraded to executive floor.

I have also had lounge access including choice of breakfast venue in Hilton Pattaya as a Gold.

I think I have also had lounge access in Sukhumvit Hilton and Sukhumvit Doubletree as a Gold but not certain as I have also stayed there as Platinum.

Personally I find the treatment as a Gold in Thailand almost the same as when I have been Diamond.
