Last week I was rejected at the self service kiosk in Melbourne after arriving from Sydney. I spoke to the desk and the lady said, "Sorry about that, the new system wants to see an upcoming flight. I'll put you through."

I'm doing a day trip tomorrow Mel-Syd-Mel but not flying VA on the way home. Is it possible that they will let me in the lounge if I use the boarding pass for my 6.45am flight? It's not really 'arrivals access' if it's 11 hours later...

I'm platinum if that's relevant.

Your experience is the same as mine. Machine rejects you on arrival, but they always seem happy to process you manually. Best just to go straight to the desk on arrival with your BP.

No changes to the policy AFAIK. Definitely a nice perk.

I think this is part of the system now checking you are flying. Previously it would just check your membership and people were getting in when not flying at all or flying with another airline.

What about partner gold like EY gold. Are they given access?

Another question ... can you use VA T1 lounge when flying out of T2 (which has a basic regional lounge). Im flying into PER from MEL with a 3.5 hr transit to ALH and id rather wait at the new T1 lounge for the majority of my transit.
