I'm looking at booking some flights in April between the UK and the US but I'm a bit uncertain about lounge access and points earning as a velocity platinum.

Essentially I want to book UK -> US gateway -> OKC (and return) on VS and/or DL.

My question is if I book on a DL code would I get lounge access on VS metal at LHR?

Similarly if I book on a VS code on DL metal would i get lounge access at ATL?

To view information on worldwide lounge access, please select the airline 'operating' your flight from the list below. On codeshare services, the operating airline will be noted on your itinerary.

According to the published rules at https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/experience/at-the-airport/international-lounge-access/ lounge access is determined by "operating carrier" not who issues the ticket or airline code but has anyone had experience in practice?

As I read the rules I would not earn points on a codeshare but again has anyone had experience?
