As a gold QFF transitting through Bangkok on a Qantas/El Al ticket, do I have any rights to lounge access (King David) while waiting for the Tel Aviv flight?

Assuming the answer is no, then is there any known method of scamming lounge access at that terminal when the ongoing carrier is not in the One-World group?

Failing all else ... how do you successfully kill 5 hours in the public area of BKK without going insane? I'm out of practice with that.

Thanks Mel - looks like I could pay around $50 for lounge or $70 for a room. Maybe I should walk a mile in the shoes of the great unwashed for a change ... might make me re-appreciate lounge access.

Definitely get yourself a long massage at one of the Thai massage places - expensive versus rest of city, but cheap compared to Australia

I once did 12 hours at BKK in my... more budget days... (backstory was I had a flight from Ko Samui that day before my main flight back to Melbourne and I decided (stupidly enough in the end) to err on the side of caution and get a morning flight instead of an afternoon/early evening flight).

Due to being young and stupid I didn't really know what to do then eat lunch very slowly and buy a book to read. Some very pleasent students came and asked if I can do a survey. I wished they stayed longer - the conversation was nice!

But I do suggest forking over the money and going to the pay lounge. There is seriously very little to do other then people watch! Louis Tavern is a part of the Prority Pass club if you have a PP.

Thanks for all the advice - I will see what the going rate for CIP lounge access is, and if they take Amex then that will probably seal the deal.

But QF23 is delayed so I may not have as much spare time in Bangkok as I initially thought, and may just have a lie down when I get there due to the high levels of bubbly in my system!

Cheers.

nah... don't worry - you'll sober up by then!! :D

enjoy BKK with a hangover :) (have a massage instead of the lounge)
