I ran a search, however, my apologies if this has been answered previously..

Just trying to work out if it is worth striving for Silver membership. Can anyone divulge this figure

Thanks

I view this as a real edge-case benefit, of use only to those who spend so much time travelling that they would truly benefit from Lounge access but not often enough to hit Gold status and be given it for free.

If you're in the position of having to "strive" to reach Silver in order to gain discounted membership I don't think you'd spend enough time in the Lounge to make the money spent worthwhile.

Would depend on individual circumstances I guess.

I had a 5 month period where I flew MEL<>SYD weekly. I started at silver, got kicked back to red then earned silver again. When that 5 month period ended I was still only 50% of the way to gold. With hingsight I should've taken advantage of the $300 lounge membership before getting demoted...I would've considered it worthwhile for those 30 or so flights.

Bit of an aside but can the lounge fee be considered tax deductible?

In almost all circumstances you should be able to tax deduct lounge membership (assuming your travel is business related).
