Luggage allowance confusion

Hi All,

A couple of months ago I managed to snag a round the world reward ticket for my parents for the following route:
SYD-HKG-ICN-HEL-WAW (CX to HKG/ICN, then AY to HEL/WAW)
WAW-HEL-DFW-SYD (AY to HEL/DFW and then QF to SYD)

Since this was in March, I took what I could get, and these were the only options available in J for 2 people. Taxes were good, so all good.
They are departing Sydney on Monday to Hong Kong.
The manage booking section in Qantas shows 3 pieces of checked luggage for each passenger, but then when you drill down into details, it says to consult the individual airlines policies.
The Cathay Pacific website is even more confusing. The manage booking section itself doesn't show any specific number, but instead talks about most significant carrier or route, and that the allowance from that is applicable.
The manage booking in Finnair shows 3 pieces for all sectors.
I cannot find anywhere on the Qantas website that passengers flying in Business (even to the US) are allowed 3 pieces. It is showing only 2 pieces to the US for regular non-status flyers that my parents are. I am a gold, so could my status be affecting those allowances ? The 3 pieces to the US would line up with a gold FF flying in Business.

What are people's experiences and thoughts on this ?
I have sent messages to Qantas and Cathay to get them to confirm, but I'm not holding my breath. I am thinking they will teflon me to each other's policies.

Thanks,
LP

AY is the most significant carrier - but QF, CX and AY all only give 2 bags to non-status J.

I'm not sure where the third is coming from - AY give 3 bags from Japan - perhaps they are extending this to Korea as well. If that is the case this makes sense, and explains why QF is showing the higher amount. Edit - I tried a dummy booking on AY from ICN to HEL and definitely only 2 bags.

It shouldn't be using your status - but I guess we can't rule it out. The fact QF and AY websites are saying the same thing, leads me to think that is correct.

I actually would be contacting the only airline you didn't - AY - as they are the significant carrier and will dictate the allowance, not QF or CX.

Will contact Finnair to see what they say. Neither of the passengers have status.
If I look at manage booking under Qantas, instead of going via my bookings (in my Gold FF), it still shows three pieces.

no - highly unlikely for them to take all the six pieces. We have other family there and will get my parents to take some presents, but not 100kg. I just didn’t want them to turn up at the airport and get told they have too much.
