just came across Lyca on OzBargain - does anyone have experience with them?

Does it mean that if I buy say a prepaid plan for $9 for 28 days for 15Gb data, I can use this 15Gb data in Europe? That will be bloody fantastic and cheap if so....

Sounds like a good deal. I’ve used them in Europe for cheap physical sims, but not here.
It’s about time Australian telecos stopped ripping us off for roaming outside Australia. Costs them SFA to allow roaming.

seems so - yes cheap, though still nowhere near Orange Flex :)

That’s must be very new? When I was researching various telcos/plans (only a few months ago), I don’t recall seeing any roaming options at all with Lyca. In fact, a quick search and I still can’t see anything for roaming outside Europe but if you’re heading to Europe, then it’s obviously a great deal!

I also can’t see anything about eSIM so still might only be physical SIMs.

I’m heading to Europe in a weeks time. I’ll ponder the pros and cons of this over amaysim 12mth addon + eSIM for data….

When you click to buy, it gives you the choice of eSim or physical Sim.

Im actually trying to figure out if being back on Telstra/boost is actually the best option. You should see the suprise on my face last year in Singapore when I got a call without roaming active on boost thanks to wifi calling. (Or on a plane for that matter).

Need to research exactly how to get it working cuz it wasn't always working.

Yes, wifi calling is handy but only available currently through Telstra family. If you’re making / receiving a lot of voice calls, then probably worth the extra $$$.

Ah, if they have eSIM and you can get a one off 28 day tnat can be used immediately on arrival in Europe, then that is very handy.

By way of comparison, I was going to load my existing UK GaffGaff SIM when I get to the UK. An £8 / 28 day no contract bundle provides call/text and 5G of data in the UK and Europe. I can also keep the same GiffGaff number active pretty open ended. Need to check what Lyca does if you don’t have an active plan? Can you just load $1 credit and keep it alive?

update:
No, all Lyca Mobile bundles and data plans are for personal use in Australia only. If you’re heading overseas, please check our roaming rates at www.lycamobile.com.au/en/rates/roaming/. Please ensure to purchase or maintain a PAYG credit balance to access roaming services.
