I and 2 business partners have a joint Macquarie (non-qf, non-Hilton) Platinum credit card that earns "Macquarie points". We now have a sh*tload of them.
These don't transfer to any FF schemes

Wondering

1. what the devil to do with these. Don't want kettle nor toaster...maybe buy travel- anyone here done that?
2. Should we fling this and/or convert to Hilton card or QF earning?
3. Change to another one - keep in mind needs to be a joint work card.

You advice would be valued.

I'm not sure about Macquarie Points but I do have a Hilton Macquarie card that gives instant Gold status and Diamond after a $40k spend. A free night each year too. You can use the points for free nights or points and pay at some hotels.
My understanding is that some hotels overseas cost as little as 15,000 points per night.

Whilst you can have an additional card holder, is there a reason you can't have a card each?

Does Diamond status continue with further $40k spend each year?

I don't think you have to spend it each year, though that is what Macquarie tell you, just make sure to spend it on the year your Diamond tarnishes. For example, I'm Diamond till March 2017 so I'll spend $40k in the first 2 months of that year. YMMV.

Thanks Buzzard.

You mentioned some Hilton hotels charge as few as 15k points...i take it that's HHonors points, not Macquarie points

I consider Macquarie Rewards almost worthless as a program due to the total lack of transfer partners. Definitely get a new credit card.

But to answer your question, I believe you'll get the most value for your existing Macquarie Rewards points by redeeming them for Woolworths gift cards.
