Does anyone have any experience with the $40K annual spend to get "free Diamond status".

Never used mine for ATO but did do $40k+ in about 3 months (difficult with a $3.5k limit).
Instant Diamond status. Card now put to bed, for the time being anyway.

On a side note, had some interesting phone calls from Macquarie asking if I would like to do a balance transfer. I asked the agent what the hell can I transfer with a mere $3.5k limit? And no, they would not consider a limit increase for at least 9 months.

They insisted on a much higher starting figure when I got mine.

I received Hilton points this month for a $5,000 payment to the ATO.

I can't see any reason why they wouldn't count in the $40K spend for Diamond.

How did you get a limit as low as $3,500?
They insisted on a much higher starting figure when I got mine.

I think my limit is very strange because I am sure the minimum limit for this card is 5,000. Maybe they like my credit record but because I have so many cards they just gave me a low limit. I thought it amusing having to deposit funds every day or 2.

been 4 weeks since I activated my card and still not Gold. Any experiences on how long this takes? I called and they shuffled me over to Hilton Honors who obviously said.. They needed to receive codes from Macquarie...

I have had my card about two weeks and it was "gold" a few days ago. Also another stupid small limit of $6K which requires regular topping up.

Hit the $40K fairly quickly and the Diamond popped up pretty soon after, pretty easy way to hold Diamond when your stays are not as frequent as they were.
