I have asked this on FT, but I'll repeat the question here.

I have a prepaid reservation for a stay at the Canberra CP this Wednesday. I was Gold when I made the reservation, but I reached Platinum status Earlier this month. Since December 20th, when I log onto my PC account my status is showing Platinum.

However, today I received a confirmation email for the above reservation and it is still showing me as gold:

I would like to know my Platinum is reflected within the booking.

Should I contact the hotel or PC about this?

I would call Hotel confirm res and let them know.

Are you Ambassador ?

For memory CP CBR looked after me with an upgrade and bottle of wine, but that was a few years ago.

+1 to giving the hotel a call. Holidex does not update existing reservations when status changes occur.

Yeah probably a good idea. I know Hilton doesn't immediately update current bookings (although I qualified ~24 hours before my next stay, so no wonder it may not have updated!)

The real question is - what benefit will PC Plat give at the hotel? Recognition of PC status is very patchy over the chain, and my personal favourite was the bottle of wine given to me in BNE due to being a frequent guest (NOT status). I priced it as about $3 in online dumping sales, so I think they would have paid less. On the good side for BNE, there's one particularly astute desk guy there who really is on the ball - after I said "don't worry" when offered wine one time, he asked if I'd prefer beer, and then got several beers delivered instead :)

Be sure to present your Platinum card when you check in, just to be sure they know who you are ;)

Will have to print one off the net, and put into a conference badge holder :D

An interesting answer on FT implied the email was queued when the booking was made.

I did a resend of the booking and the new email shows the following instead:

No status change was reflected on Welcome letter:
Status: PC Platinum
Hotel: Crown Plaza Canberra

Booked: King
Got: King Park View, Welcome GOLD letter, free internet when complained

CP Canberra sevice is patchy.. last time there in Oct, I was offered a Paid upgrade.. I said that I am a Platinum member and entitled to free room upgrade.. The lady at the reception said " That is at Hotels' discretion and right now we are not offering free upgrades".. no real explanation was given and the funny thing is that this lady was bearing the batch "Front Desk manager".. after a long day didn't want to argue and was there for one night only.. so didn't bother..

At CP Melbourne and CP Auckland.. I have had free upgrade but no free drinks.. at Intercontinental Rialto Melbourne.. Nothing.. Just a Welcome and offer to join Ambassador..

So it confirms again that Platinum recognition across the IHG chain is patchy.. hit and miss.
