Malaysia Airline terminate some Africa and South America route

Just learned MAS is cutting it's flight to South America and Africa. What happened to MAS? I thought they are doing well on these route.

Malaysia Airlines has rolled out planned network reductions for service to Pakistan, UAE, South Africa, and Argentina, as well as Dammam in Saudi Arabia.

I'm interested to see what's happening with these routes which have been reopened for booking. Particularly as I'm looking at flying HKG to JNB and then CPT to HKG, it would be great if I can have the flexibility to fly with either CX direct or MH via KUL. Just having the extra option would be nice.
