Generally it shouldn't as people rarely visit Male. I'm due there in 4 weeks.

Though with the suspension of liberties, I will reconsider travelling there in the future, it all seems a bit corrupt. If my flights/hotel were refundable (all points) I'd probably move to Conrad Koh Samui or somewhere.

True, and it's a very cool landing strip island. From the sky, it looks like you will land on a giant aircraft carrier.

And to your post about liberties I agree with you. The State of Emergency is only designed to 'shutdown' the opponents of the current government. Sadly these type of behaviours, i.e. to shut down the opposition through dubious processes, happens in many countries including Singapore.

Ironically Thailand is just as bad. Singapore is improving I feel, but I don't have intimate knowledge.

We had an 8 hour layover. From Island flight out to International late night flight out. And spent the day at a Hotel in Male.

On the way in i'm at the airport hotel on the island, last time went straight to the hotel as I managed to get an earlier flight.

On the way out I use the Conrad lounge until the airport will check me in. Have never actually been to Male!

Actually, Male is an interesting place for a quick walkabout...we had to overnight in Male last year en route to Conrad Maldives...so we took an early morning stroll to the fish market / fishing harbour which was quite interesting. It was very hot and humid though...there were many,many motorbikes on the road as well. As a female, however, my + 1 felt a bit uncomfortable as she sensed a lot of male eyes staring at her (short sleeve, full length dress)...so maybe some caution if you are a solo female.

There is a thread for CM Rangali questions but no TRs as far as I am aware. I think most who have been to the Maldives here have done it on HH points! Both my trips were. The conrad is nice but not the last word in luxury compared to some of the other resorts.
