Posting a review of this hotel because of the fantastic service we got here.We were only staying here as we were booked at The Pullitzer. But it left SPG in April meaning a change.Prices were quite high 3 months out and the Marriott was one of the most reasonable. As well it was not that much dearer to book than a base room. When you add up the cost of internet, breakfast and wine we were well in front.Mrsdrron has a Marriott membership but we had to resurrect it for this stay.
Internet speed better than SPG and Hilton in the US.Reasonable snacks in the lounge so you can have a light dinner.Scrambled eggs and sausage in the morning plus good range of other brekkie items.Wines were drinkable.
Position is reasonable-easy walking distance to the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum.Tram stop 50 metres.Hop on hop off bus and canal boat about the same.So to the room-

And the view-

But as I said the major part of our considering it a great stay was the staff. We had word from BA that our bags would arrive in AMS on the morning of June 2nd.We arrived at ~ 3pm and no bags.Tim the concierge rang BA who couldn't help.BA didn't answer any of our emails after that.Tim rang BA 3 times on the 3rd and 4th and still no answers. On the afternoon of the 4th he rang baggage services at Schipol and found that they had been sent to unclaimed baggage and were due to be shipped back to Australia the next day. They wouldn't deliver them so we had to detour via Schipol to finally be reunited with our bags. And all thanks to the concierge who went above and beyond.
Although it didn't affect us there was an incident at the lounge on the morning of the 4th.We were sitting near the door so saw it all unfold. The lounge is off the lobby and security is not great. Two Asians walked in after a guest. Not suspicious as Thai staff have brekkie there before going to the airport. They walked around and then walked out.One of the lounge attendants suddenly took off after them.We heard a commotion outside and he comes back in with a woman's handbag they had snatched. So Charles saved another woman's trip-an American who was going on a cruise.
These things are enough for me to recommend this Marriott.
