Would it be inappropriate to try and force a friendship with check in staff on my next stay...

My guess is staff would be under the microscope with how many "mates" they actually have! My guess is also that staff would be well aware of that and give their "friendship" sparingly! :(

I did a few random checks using the links (thanks for posting swanning_it) - seems pretty restricted and to the cheapest rooms in the house only. Is that right or was I just 'unlucky' in the random selections?

I don't have any friends ;), so I haven't looked too deeply at them, but I did look at Cairns and there seemed to be plenty of sub $100 rates, which is pretty cheap. Normally, the very cheapest there I can do is $130. Even though these are non-point accruing stays, it says nothing that I saw about not accruing as stays and nights, nor about voiding status benefits (upgrades, breakfast, lounge etc).

Apparently each staff member has a limit on the number of room nights available for employees to share with their family and friends via this program, unfortunately the staff members I know quite well are at pretty much at their threshold. I've also heard Hilton Worldwide is currently in the process of revising the Mates Rates program. If there are any other Hilton staff members out there that would like a new mate please give me a shout.

Has anyone taken advantage of Hilton Mates Rates? The offer is still advertised and rates are very good for Fiji. Are there any Hilton team members willing to be my mate?
