Max amount of points to transfer to airline partner?

Hi.
I'm sure the answer to my question is buried in the archives somewhere, but I can't find it. Sorry.
I just wanted to know if there is a limit to the maximum number of points I can transfer out of SPG to an airline partner?
I basically need to make up 40k alaska points and was thinking of transferring them out of my SPG account.

There is an issue if you try to do the maximum points - only in the fact that you do not optimise the 5K bonus.

This will not be an issue when you only transfer 40000 points - you'll get 50000 miles.

Cool. So as long as you have enough points in your SPG account, you can keep transferring them out if you want to..
